Weight Gain?!?

Up until now I have been pretty at ease about weight gain during my pregnancy. For the first 12 weeks I didn't gain any weight at all. I ate my snacks (cheese and crackers/nature valley bar/cheese sticks/oranges/apples) and worked out 3x a week, not including bowling on Tuesday. ... THEN ... I went home to Virginia for a wedding and to visit Chick-Fil-A my family. What happened from here I do not know!! I guess I can chalk up the 8 pounds I have gained in the last 3 weeks (I will be 15 weeks tomorrow according to me and was 15 weeks according to my Dr. yesterday) to: the Chick-Fil-A I ate in Virginia about oh! 5 times!! and to the lack of really wanting to workout since I got home a week ago. Oh and... I don't know what else! Maybe the Doritos I have had with my lunch, but I haven't even finished the bag yet. What gives? Now I am freaking out! Am I gaining too much weight? ... I just remembered ... there is ice cream in the freezer too, but again! I haven't even finished half the carton!! I went from looking like I had maybe had one too many rolls at dinner to looking like I ate the whole stinking buffet line. Yikes! I know I am supposed to gain weight, but I didn't think this much in 3 weeks. I am working very hard to drink lots of water, could it be all water weight? I think not.  Is this okay? Should I be worried? Any advice? Any snack ideas? I am bored with the usual, but hate trying new things. Such a predicament.

Oh lady! I don't know what's normal either. My "pregnancy this week" updates from the bump and such talk about how "soon you'll be showing"...I, on the other hand, made the transition to maternity wear this weekend. I can still make some of my longer/larger shirts work, but the pants were just getting too uncomfortable. Also, to your 8lbs I say you can have my 20lb. (YES--that is no typo) DOOM. Normal?

Oh, weight...something I've stressed over for both pregnancies. BUT, what I've found from my experience is that I tend to gain the most weight in the second trimester. With both girls, I gained 8-10 pounds each month during the second trimester, but barely any weight in the third trimester once the baby runs out of room in there! :) The first pregnancy is scary because you're not quite sure how your body is going to react to growing a baby, but as long as you're feeling good and being conscious of overall health, I think all weight gain (little or a lot) is normal. I think you're totally ok and a beautiful, pregnant mama! :)

I agree with Shannon! I wouldn't stress over it! Especially in the second trimester. Plus you might have gained 8 pounds now, but you might only gain a couple in the next couple weeks. Keep the stress low. It's better for you and for baby! Easier said then done...I know :)
